It took the article six paragraphs to make the connection between climate change and the woman having to quit her independent career as a yak herder.

The focus is on how climate is impacting people who were more nomadic and relied on yak herding. It’s a good article, but I felt the headline could have been improved.

But moving down from the mountains has also meant that for Lhamo, and other Brokpa women, they’ve also moved down the social hierarchy, simply by virtue of being women. As the world continues to warm, making yak herding untenable, Tashi Lhamo’s life is a cautionary tale of what awaits women in the dwindling herding communities.

I stubbed my toe on climate change this morning. Somebody stop this climate violence!
