After being hosted by the Lemmy devs since March 2022 (thx!), I finally got around moving this instance to my own server today.

It is a quite beefy server (8core 32gb RAM) currently shared with a few other services provided by F-hub.org (still somewhat under construction).

Registrations are also open again (with admin approval) and I will try to approve them ASAP during the coming days.

Thank you for hosting this instance and opening it up to registrations!

Nice, thanks for these efforts! Hopefully this will also reduce the load on lemmy.ml a bit.

Do you think we can advertise this instance to the incoming redditors or do you want to keep it light?

You can mention it to reddit migrators, the current server has some free capacity. The bigger issue is that we don’t have many active moderators and I am the only one that can approve registrations right now. So maybe don’t overdo it with the advertisement 😊

Slrpnk was on a list of Lemmy servers and I picked it somewhat at random - though not entirely; if a full-bore reddit migration begins soon and communities boom on Lemmy, then I’d rather be supporting Slrpnk than something completely random. Anyway, brace yourself: I think a flood is coming.

Yes I am working in the background on some server optimisations, which is why there might be sometimes some database errors popping up right now. I hope our server will not get too over-loaded, but I can always close registrations if it gets too much. For now the server is holding up fine though and even has plenty of reserves left. I just need to fix some annoying memory issues with the database configuration.
