  • It’s the same phenomenon as road rage. You expect certain actions out of people without communicating, and when they don’t conform to your expectations, you wonder why they can’t just see the most obvious thing (to you).

There are different reasons for each, but very similar feelings.

I don’t personally get road rage because driving isn’t competitive. But I do react poorly to others raging at me (which is also a childish problem I should get over.)

Game specific diatribe incoming. Stop reading now or forever hold your peace.

Partly it’s that I have some unique ideas about how support can be played. Partly it’s that I’m absolutely more inclined to support somewhere else if I’ve lost confidence in my “partner”. Partly it’s that I’m actually bad at very obvious parts of the game, while it’s easy to overlook what I am accomplishing. I’ll take too many risks to maintain vision, for example. People get mad when I die stupidly, but don’t see how they’ve had better than professional vision for the entire game. (Because I take too many risks for it, and bad players are even worse at clearing vision.)

  • You really want Thread over Matter when you can. Thread is the low power 2.4Ghz protocol, and is my bet for future tech. Matter makes it compatible with any ecosystem. (Functionality may be limited compared to the vendor app.)

But I already have some Z-Wave in my walls, so it’s not completely out of the question.

The vendors, of course, have been slow to roll out actually open tech. I did just get the Aqara U300 door lock, which at least can unlock through Matter.

  • Have they, though?

It wasn’t because it gets votes, but because it loses votes. People will strongly object to one thing a hell of a lot faster than they’ll give you credit for doing anything. Look at Biden’s entire administration. We handled post-covid inflation* better than any other developed nation, but he didn’t get credit for the 90% he fixed. He got shit on for the 10% left to go.

    * And I’d argue a good chunk of that inflation was the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), the bipartisan bill Trump signed into law while rejecting the oversight the Dems wanted. That was the biggest corporate giveaway in our nation’s history. Literally just giving public money to private corporations. A step far beyond “privatize profits, socialize losses”.

Dems believed, reasonably, that Roe was settled and wasn’t in imminent danger. Holding a vote on that just pushes people away. Of course, in hindsight, they should have done it anyway. But as you can tell from this past election, and all the states that went red while passing women’s rights legislation, having the issue out there is not getting them votes.

  • I do love it. It’s about time a Democrat fucking did something without constant worry about what Fox News might say about it. You think we were going to win over these supposed “centrists” anyway?

He’s not appointing him to a cabinet position. He’s not making him the Ambassador to France. And the only reason he was having the entire book thrown at him for crimes he did, absolutely commit was, in fact, political.

Fuck former Senator Bob Menendez. That was real corruption. Fuck Blagojevich, he should rot in prison (except that Trump pardoned him). But Hunter’s crimes were pretty minor.
