The original subreddit was 195 or 194, so you aren’t wrong. I hope it happens, but people need to step up if they want that. I would be willing to help, but I couldn’t do it alone.
I swear I’m not Jessica

I do wish it was a different instance. Having all the big communities in one instance is concerning. I guess they weren’t willing to put in the effort to go anywhere else.
On top of that, lemmy.world has a bit of a reputation as less queer friendly, as it tries to accommodate for more conservative techies. I’ve personally run into an awful lot of respectability centrists who refuse to listen to the concerns of minorities. They think we’re overreacting, and that’s very upsetting because it comes off as gaslighting. Many of them are just in denial about the state of the world; unwilling to challenge their own perception of the world as a just place.
All/most of the mods seemed onboard with it, so the community would need to find new mods if it were to remain open. I would be willing to help mod such a com, but I’m not willing to spearhead it. I don’t want to stretch myself thin.
My guess is that the 196 mods decided to do this because they have lemmy.world friends who got banned from blahaj.zone. There has been a growing disconnect between some frequent posters of 196, and the rest of the community. They post good stuff and might even contribute a majority of the content on some days, but they also have edgier sensibilities and higher tolerances for bullshit. This situation doesn’t seem ideological to the mods because their motivation is personal. However, personal relationships play a larger role in our beliefs than most people think.
The mistake the mods made was assuming the queer culture of 196 would transfer over to .world. I highly doubt this will happen after folks got used to blahaj.zone for over a year. Many queer users won’t like the new 196, and as new users join, blahaj.zone users will leave. Given the reactions here, I doubt they can do much now to stop that from happening.
I agree with most others that this is a huge mistake, if only for moving to .world. Another larger community being on that instance sounds like a bad idea for the lemmy ecosystem, even if you wanted to move from blahaj.zone. I will continue to post and browse on 196, but if I start to feel unwelcome there, I will make it known.
The problem is that you’re creating more work for yourself, even if you’re as on top of moderation as you were here. If you get the additional reach that you’re hoping for, you’ll have to work much quicker at removing shit content than you did here. Now that 196 isn’t on the openly queer instance, more bigots will feel like they can interact. This could lead to the community becoming less accepting in the long run, as queer people feel less safe and welcomed.
I have thick skin and often run towards conflicts other people won’t, but I know that many users here aren’t like me. If I start to feel it weighing on me, be confident that things have gone too far for most people on this instance.
When 2 dommy mommies meet? 😳
Are you the mommy dommy, or do you want a mommy dommy?
It isn’t preemptive to see cops as our enemy, for they’re already taught to view the public as an enemy. The reform we need isn’t even what gets discussed by anybody who wants to “work” with police.
Public safety needs to be gutted and rebuilt from the ground up, with cops only handling situations where someone might need to die. There is no non-lethal violence. Any instance of cops using any form of violence carries the risk of someone dying. We shouldn’t expect them to be anything but violence machines; a last resort to any issue, not part of a front line.
If their unions don’t hate you, you’re never gonna actually accomplish anything. It’s not a good strategy to ally with people who get upset at being anti-cop. In the US, politicians who say “fuck the police” are better off than any respectability politician. We’ve heard nothing but meaningless platitudes for years, and people are tired of it. The “safe” politicians have provided no safety, and people are too scared to trust them any longer.
Idk. 14 year old me would still find this stupid
Then why do you do it to yourself? Are you somehow special?
You can do it cutie!
Google drives me up a wall with their search engine the most. AI bs to hide the fact that SEO and paid promotions make it hard to find anything anymore 😒
What about that makes you a bad person? Would you tell another girl that they’re a bad person for not meeting some standard of femininity? That’d be the actual bad girl behavior
Understandable and based. I’m still gonna do it because I like having different types of “your”
BUT WRONG “YOUR”!! Just use “ur” if you aren’t gonna use the correct one 😤
Suffocation?
Astolfo is a femboy icon, and while there’s nothing wrong with being a femboy, the community does skew younger. At a certain age, it gets awkward to call yourself a boy or girl, as our bodies naturally mature. It has a lot to do with the loss of youth, and the shame that comes with it.
Teachers are expected to be more “grown-up or mature,” with them using cute characters coming across as out of touch. It gets awkward when teachers break that perception, like they’re trying to be someone they can’t.
If the teacher doesn’t know who Astolfo is, they seem even more out of touch than if it’s a cute girl character; a “how do you do fellow kids?” moment. If the teacher is aware and intentionally represents themselves as a femboy, it still breaks the view students have of teachers as mature. It would be abnormal instead of immoral, but that alone is risky if a conservative catches wind of it.
Is often times better than a master of one :)
You are smart! You just probably have ADHD. I used to feel the same way, but I eventually realized that I really don’t think like others. My approximate knowledge is limited, but I can still leverage it to actually have advantages compared to others.
Like I said, the perception of .world from people here is not good. I changed from .world because most conservative and transphobic nonsense came from there. You will lose a number of queer people in this move, whether you like it or not.
