So fucking stupid that this is up for debate… It’s not like Trudeau got elected and had a bender and trashed the place – it’s been under-maintained for nearly 70 years. Given that he’s never lived there, prior prime ministers are more to blame than he is.

We’re a G7 country. Fix it and get the fuck on with it.

Honestly they just need to pay the money and fix it up. They don’t want to be seen spending a hundred million on a house for the PM but it’s starting to be embarrassing.

Make em live in an apartment in Caldwell or one of the other slums. Give em an empathy lesson.

Good idea. We give Trudeau the median family’s salary and he has to find a 2-bedroom apartment literally anywhere in any Canadian city.

Rideau cottage works and has been working perfectly fine as the residence for the Prime Minister. They should just make that the official residence

That is addressed in the article. There are still security concerns as well as the bad optics of the leader of Canada living in the King’s Representative’s backyard.

Oh ya I read that, but I don’t believe the optics are bad, no one in Canada cares about those optics of living in the kings back yard, there are soooo much more important things to Canadians. And the drone attacks they keep mentioning have never occurred (at least in a first world nation).
