Torre was quoted as saying in the report that he wants to show that he is not covering up for anyone and he is willing to uncover the truth in the incident. The resignation will be effective on Thursday, the report said.

I like this move, nagpapakita siya ng delicadeza, di gaya ng ibang mga politician na sobrang embroiled na sa corruption scandals, pero parang mga wala pa ring paki.

The police chief boxed himself in unnecessarily by giving the guy a platform without knowing the whole story. Ayun lumabas CCTV footage that puts the ex-cop in an even worse pickle than before — cyclist was in fact trying to avoid him many times and kinaladkad niya pa bike sa sidewalk.

Cyclist, not surprisingly, doesn’t want to press charges and want to move on and avoid the drama. Ewan ko lang if someone else could still press charges.

It can be both. He pleaded for people to stop asking him to file charges or presume that he was paid off. He honestly just wants to move on because the entire thing is causing him stress and depression.

On the other hand, Gonzales is doomed anyway with or without the cyclist. All his titles and privileges have been stripped (and also fired), what appears to be his backer stepped down, Belmonte looks to be going full court press on it, and there is a senate hearing scheduled next week.
