I always hear him talking about common sense policies but he never actually says what they are.

I think it’s insane that Canada’s conservatives are looking at the American republicans and wanting to copy the shitshow that’s going on there.

Common sense. While driving in Canada you drive in the right side of the road. That’s common sense.

Basic needs in life on Earth or deemed necessities are common sense. That’s common sense. Not bullshit politically driven capitalistic ideology.

I think common sense is used as a Rorschach test in this situation because he can not talk about his policies and let supporters fill in the blanks and see what they want to see.

I wouldn’t say that, Harper stopped him a few times for being too extreme

Like when he wanted to change rules around how much money parties were allowed to spend on robot phone calls as well as limit the powers of Elections Canada to oversee fairness in elections

Politics these days … especially with the right and far right … is now mostly driven by belief and faith, a lot like a religion

They don’t care what they say or how to do it … most of the time, they never talk about how, when or what they want to do. All they ever want to say is how they will make the future great for everyone. And everyone that would like to believe that just points out their dissatisfaction with the present and how they want to see a better future. It’s also a movement of seeing the world as ‘them’ and ‘us’ … the unholy non-believers that want to stop them … the unfaithful who are simultaneously weak and unable as well as powerful enough to oppress them.

It’s a new age religion when you think about it … the same thinking humanity has lived with for thousands of years.

I don’t see conservatives and right wing movement as a political movement any more … they act more like a religious faith than a political ideology.

Which is why they will go far … not because of what they can do … but of the future promised land they offer but will never deliver.
