Brandon isn’t looking to squeeze every dollar out of the books. Even in the bookstore I use to buy his books, they come without any DRM. Which is admirable, but also is going to affect the profits because of pirating

Yep, Sanderson is a gem. Broke up a big deal with Amazon because they were price gauging authors. He went shopping around for an alternative to audible, speechify offered him 100% of the royalties compared to audibles 40%. He counter offered to 70% because he thought it was a fair industry standard.

Amazon is taking 60% of the royalties from authors? What the fuck? That’s straight up exploitation. So, someone comes up with a completely unique idea, spends years of their life to create it, and Amazon thinks they should get 60% of the money just because they provided a store that practically manages itself as a place to sell it? Fucking, UGH!

That is what they were offering Brandon Sanderson, one of the biggest and most productive authors in science fiction/fantasy. The reason he broke it off was because he realized if they were taking 60% from him, they were murdering smaller authors.

Everytime I see something about him, I crave a Reckoners series. Like, live action, with several seasons. It should either start before the book series or expand on the parts that happened between books. More characters, more investigations. A possible style could be at least one new Epic per episode. Kind of like cop dramas where each episode is a different crime (or epic) with overarching themes.

I DON’T want a focus on relationships of just a couple people, especially the love story. The Reckoners would have very slow character development since the focus would be figuring out epics’ weaknesses, usually followed by execution.
