The original title for this article is Against Masculinity, which I was certain would get a lot of first impression downvotes. That said, I am not sure this is the best alternative title as the article very much does not feel the need to provide alternatives to masculinity even as it advocates for its jettison. I think this article is best interpreted as an emotional expression of the frustration many men feel with regards to the idea that masculinity can and must be salvaged. I suspect this article will primarily resonate with men who already feel fairly distant and maybe even distrustful of masculinity, even the traits that are widely held as positive in spite of their potentially patriarchal origins.
