COP28 will be held in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates from November 30 until December 12.

UAE are one of the biggest producers of CO2 per capita if we exclude small island nations. Their economy is almost solely based on the very thing that causes climate change apart from animal agriculture. The most powerful rich people on the planet flying to one of the hottest, car-centric, artificially created settlements, that was meant to be a fishing village, and can’t even take care of its sewage, to discuss how we can keep up with the current unsustainable model so the cash keeps flowing. But it’s okay because we’re serving mostly vegan food.

This whole shitshow seems to be in line with the petrostates trying to greenwash themselves while scrambling for survival before the whole petroleum industry collapses, or their desert settlements become impossible to live in, whichever comes first.
