I’m off today. Work I’ve had a lot of conflict and ended the day early to go for a walk, but also there’s a few things I just need to rant about sorry…! Also have a picture of my cat showing how I feel today!

TIL that cats do have their own language.

When our fluffy vocal one is being chatty, yells at the door begging to go outside, or is being excited to see me come home, the others sometimes come around to investigate then carry on sleeping

If he’s the first one that sees vegetables or raw meat in my hands, he would beg for it, this time the other two would drop what they’re doing and join him begging, even if I immediately hide said food before the other two could see it.

Ted Cat is very very hungry . Every single rescue long haired cat I’ve had had been neglected and half starved. 😢

While I was having a nice relaxing bath the kids decided to join me in the bathroom. The oldest one decorated the littlest one to make him look “pretty” with butterfly clips.

    spoiler

If you had the choice, what would you go for:

    1. Increase of pay to relieve cost of living pressure
    2. Decrease in work hours (but not pay) to increase your work/life balance

I know for me it’s the latter but that comes from a position where cost of living, while putting a bit of pressure on me financially, isn’t my biggest concern. I’ve lived frugally before and can do that but seeing my hours slip away while companies make big profits off of my work isn’t fun.

Probably 2. I had a pay rise not long ago but family circumstances mean I think I’m going to need more time for life admin.

(I know this is from yesterday but thought I would reply anyway - sorry for the lateness)

That whole life admin piece is the real kicker, huh? Especially when family is to be considered - whether it’s older or younger family members, those that need that little bit of extra time (as in, anyone that isn’t fully independent) really does end up chewing into the other time you would use to do things like, you know, live life. That’s what I don’t understand about a lot of the debates going on around the world where the birthrate is dropping - people don’t feel they have the adequate time to raise a family. Couple it with the other side of the sandwich where you also have to help out older family members who aren’t nearly as independent as they were when we were younger, and suddenly you’re caught in the middle.

My phone’s estimated delivery timeframe: over 2 weeks. My phone’s actual arrival time: 2 days.

It looks pretty good, just going through setup now. Once upon a time mobile phones were giant bricks and we would marvel when each successively smaller model came out. Then we started adding in lots of new functions and they are getting bigger and bigger again.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. Reconditioned, but looks perfect and is working fine (for a lot less). It was the cheapest one I could get which included the S pen which I’ve found from the tablet is really useful for some of the things I do.

Just been dropped that I’m doing the flowers for my bros wedding this Sunday.

    I’m seriously not impressed.

If anyone here has ever been to a wedding in Indo (their first wedding) and what her side of the family would (I’m guessing) expect… let’s just say from what I saw they expect a lot of flowers.

    Fuck me

Started work pretty normally… about an hour in, realised my throat was really dry and felt strange even though I’d been drinking water. Then I got really really tired. Told work I’m unavailable and slept from 10am until 5pm. I had to force myself to get out of bed so I wouldn’t keep sleeping. I’m going to order something in I think because I should eat but don’t have the energy to bother myself.

This being the day after I went back into the office for the first time since before my leave. Yikes.

I have a bit of a dilemma. So my gym is like 42 a week because it’s “premium”, but because I’ve been sick and had a mental breakdown over the past few weeks, I haven’t been for a while.

I’m really conflicted about whether or not to try somewhere else. It’s the whole starting at a new, busier gym that’s intimidating. So it’s either a) I step it up and actually use my membership or b) suspend my membership at current gym to try out some other gyms and see which I like better.

    Anyone had experience switching gyms?

See what the council gym option are. My local council one is amazing, about $24 a week with access to classes, 24hr gym, indoor and outdoor pool, spa and sauna.

So since moving to Tassie I haven’t made any real friends, but in a really weird coincidence someone who I knew because she dated a friend I played footy and cricket with (20 years ago) happened to move in to the same area as I did in Tassie not long before I moved here (5 years ago). We spoke off and on but after she found out about the break up, she invited me out to trivia night with some of her work friends. I am really really terrible socially, was super nervous, and almost bailed. But I sucked it up and went last night and actually had a really good time. I was actually social and talked to people instead of feeling like I didn’t belong.

And we came third so even better.

Said it before but I’ll say it again, if you like Aussie comedy get on Thank God You’re Here. Ok yes we had a South African and a kiwi tonight, but it’s still better than American comedy.
