That design is largely government meddling that they claim to hate: Government mandated minimum parking Roads paid for via taxes they hate Government tracking via vehicle registration Government permission needed via licenses Government blocking private land owners building what makes sense on their land (e.g. a small general store in the center of a SFH neighborhood) Government mandated insurance Government mandated vehicle requirements That is what I can think of in like 2 minutes. Lots of small government there.
