    I don’t really disagree. I would hope it’s more of an evolution to the next step beyond simple democracy to where more agency and equity is given to many more marginalized people a voice and choice in their governance. We’re definitely near a technological level where we could consider direct democracy as opposed to representative, but I’d still hope that enough people are “sane minded” to not wholesale reject the idea of democracy and choice, despite its obvious limitations.

      agreed. my “better” world is somewhat Jeffersonian - egalitarian, with universal agency. that world absolutely still involves anyone (even the crazies) having a voice but without all of the outsized special interest influence we see every day - I suppose I still have some faith in the majority of humanity. I want a vibrant, progressive society tempered by knowledge, understanding and compassion. part of the reason we are where we are currently is the lack of everything mentioned above. I know others may find massive holes in my pie-in-the-sky utopia, but this is what i would foolishly advocate for until swayed in a different direction.
