They feel many drivers were not punished for violating track limits and want that issue explored thoroughly.
So the result is not final. Should make for an interesting day after debrief if the mods allow us to have one.
Update: Apparently the stewards have said they had 1,200 reports of track limit infringements to review. They sound as frustrated about them as we do. At the end of their statement they said something like, “As we have in the past, we recommend this track add gravel or grass on turns 9 and 10.”
i wonder why there is no gravel or grass there yet… or even a sausage curb
Apparently other series that run at the track would become more unsafe if grass or gravel was introduced at those places. It’s plainly F1 drivers taking advantage of a situation when they have been warned not to do so.
Adding grass or gravel for the F1 weekend and then repaying the surface for other series seems to be the only viable solution. The track should do that next year and send the bill to the GPDA.
Probably for moto gp safety. Pretty epic moto gp track
I really wish the coverage had shown more slow-mo of the track limits violations.
At least on the F1TV feed they talked a lot about them (as did Lando about Hamilton!), but I have really no idea how egregious they were.
There were overtakes up and down the field so it was not possible to focus too much on violation of track limits. I thought the coverage we got was decent and now some stuff will be sorted off track. It’s a complex sport.
