I was watching college baseball the other day, and they had the their pitcher also serving as the DH? I was sad when the NL got the DH, but this seems like a strange way to do it. Is that common in college ball, or was this just one weird school?

Carlos Rodon frequently DH’ed for NC State. He was called upon to pinch hit in pressure situations, too. I had hoped he’d get drafted to an NL team just to see how he’d do against big league pitching.

That’s my one local example. Not sure if that indicates a common occurrence.

Interesting. Using a pitcher as a pinch hitter is pretty baller. Kinda like using the goalie to take a penalty kick in soccer.
