I like the songs and its vibe/soul when listening Taylor Swift’s early albums.
Whether those are country or pop or teen or love songs, I really (and still) get hooked by:
- its simple melodies (but not so colorful but at least appreciative),
- its simple sounds/instruments (but not so magnificent but at least interesting),
- and its really awesome lyrics and its story by her.
- and of course her voice (not so astounding nor distinct but at least very good)
So, her songs has really influenced my musical preference especially when growing up.
So now,
despite maybe because I’m already adult or because I’m not well anymore gathering new music,
I’m still looking for new music/song/album or new/current other music artists with that kind such as hers—
—as I hardly create for myself my playlist of current (at least 2020-present) music. Of course, I want a diversity of awesome and beautiful music (rock, alternative, grunge, urban or “RNB” such as Ne-Yo, disco and soft and so more). But I haven’t been amazed/hooked by the current music I’m receiving/hearing anywhere today. I have tried to keep listening those from the charts, mainstream playlists or most mentioned artists, yet I haven’t been amazed like how I did by Taylor’s despite I’m not really a fan of her.
So if you could introduce someone to me to search, Are there any other “new” music or new/current artists with that kind such as hers (artists likely endorsed by her as I already consider her a great artist)?
It does not really have to be so much similar to her songs (so it can be grunge, ballad or urban). I’m referring to the “vibe/soul/somewhat-acting-as-if-I-musically-feel-that-there’s-a-drama-scene-or-personality/sound/something I can’t clearly describe sorry” upon the songs that she’s singing/playing.
So to understand what I’m referring to, here are selected current songs I like and still keep playing are:
- “Until I Found You” by Stephen Sanchez (way mostly among the current ones, I’m single 😉 btw—what I mean is that song is a sentimental love song for rejoicing love couples, and I felt attached even I don’t have a girlfriend.)
- “Here With Me” by d4vd (becoming less frequently)
- “Spark” by Ed Sheeran (becoming less frequently)
- “Foolish One” by Taylor Swift
- “Vampire” by Olive Rodrigo (I’m not sure as I’m getting hooked right now) 6 “Say So” by Doja Cat (becoming less frequently)
- … That’s it I can fondly recall. I have tried to think from 2020 farther. But that’s it I bravely mentioned.
I will just bravely mention some (too much so 22) selected (ouch-old/past) popular songs that I straight recall and like and songs that I keep mesmerizing and playing in my repeating playlist (just to reveal partially at least and hint my preference):

- “Complicated” and “I’m With You” by Avril Lavigne
- “Two Less Lonely People in the World” and “Even the Nights Are Better” and “Here I Am” by Air Supply (one of artist I like most)
- “If You Asked Me To” and “I Love You” by Celine Dion
- “Age Ain’t Nothing But a Number” by Aaliyah (I just ignore its unwanted lyrics.)
- “You’re My Inspiration” by Chicago (I like listening other songs similar to this another kind)
- “Never Forget You” and “Always Be My Baby” by Mariah Carey (I’m a real fan)
- “Gonna Get Along Without You Now” by Skeeter Davis
- “Lover’s Moon” and “The One You Love” by Glenn Frey
- “Take A Bow” and “Unfaithful” by Rihanna
- “Sometimes” by Britney Spears
- “Don’t Say You Love Me” and “Old Town @ MTV” by the Corrs
- “I Will Always Love You” by Dolly Parton (more than Whitney)
- “I’m Saving All My Love For You” by Whitney Houston
- “Kiss Me” and “Don’t Dream It’s Over” by Sixpence None The Richer
- “When You’re Gone” and “Zombie” by The Cranberries
- … of course many more and more but I will just stop here.
i cannot describe in words the picture i get from this list, but i do get a picture. here are some other things i’d have tried on the other walls. most of these aren’t their most recent but have stylistic similarities
- crowded house self-title: includes the song ‘don’t dream it’s over’ that might be the original version of one you cite above; it seems as popular a cover as ‘just like heaven’
- you might like mandy moore’s latest ‘in real life’, very a much a ‘who mandy grew into’ album
- or sabrina carpenter’s first album, ‘eyes wide open’, a very ingénue and almost pop-country album - i thought she might go in that direction and proved very wrong
- or ariana grande’s ‘sweetener’, though you’ll likely already have heard that
- or foxes’ album ‘glorious’
- or little mix - try the tracks ‘little me’, ‘competition’, ‘always be together’ or ‘towers’
- or gabriella cilmi’s ‘lessons to be learned’ album, which you’ll either love or hate, can’t tell
- or dj encore’s ‘unique’ for something a little more electronic but still very emotional
- or the tracks ‘see the day’ or ‘whole lotta history’ by girls aloud
- or sleepthief’s cover version of berlin’s ‘the metro’, and if you like that, the whole ‘dawnseeker’ album
- surely you’re familiar with leann rimes’s ‘how do i live’ and ‘i will love again’, which i know from lara fabian’s version
- for good mexican power ballads, jennifer peña’s ‘vivo y muero en tu piel’ or belinda’s ‘sal de mi piel’
just a few things that tumble out of my ‘mass hysteria’ playlist

I know very selected songs from Sabrina Carpenter because of my little sibling playing on stereo. No idea of her first album.
Ariana’s “Sweetener” Album is “god is a woman” and “no tears left to cry” (I never got truly hooked by both on that time long ago, but I will try to listen the whole album you suggested.)
I have heard Foxes’ name but I believe I heard one song of her but I don’t know the tile.

I feel like it got buried by releasing on the same day as Midnights but the vibe of The Loneliest Time by Carly Rae Jepsen has a rather similar vibe to Taylor’s and in fact her whole song writing career probably would appeal to a lot of Taylor fans. Especially the Emotion, Dedicated albums and The Loneliest Time.
I’d be also interested but I’m terrible at finding new music. My only great choice you already have and that’s Olivia Rodrigo, I definitely think she’s the punk evolution of Taylor for sure. I need to get on a music service and start branching out more.
I’m having a marathon (in my free and chill time) to Olivia Rodrigo’s music because I’m getting hooked by her latest song “Vampire” just like how I got hooked by “Driver’s License” and “Deja vu”.
it’s hard to say I like it, as it’s still fresh as of now, so let me see few months later. But to understand my criteria, I still listen to “Until I Found You” by Stephen Sanchez even this week, after I discovered it last November. So, I definitely like his song, one of the few songs I like in the present since 2020 that I put in my repeating playlists.
I have been obsessed with Vampire, it’s so damn catchy and I can’t get it out of my head. i was hesitant to be excited for Guts because a lot of times artists go in their own heads and can’t pull off album 2, but this time it sounds like it’s going to be out of the park
And now, while having my Olivia’s music marathon still, there’s already Billie Eilish’s new song “What I Was Made For?”. Good treats maybe are coming!!!
