Hey all,

This is the place where you can share your ideas, improvements, whishes or general feedback regarding this community.

Update 1

the people here have agreed to dedicate this community to the general discussion of minimalism.

I’m trying to make everything as transparent and democratic as possible so you can really harness the freedom of the decentralized internet with its main strength: the community.

I would want to see a bigger mod team. 1-2 person mod teams rarely go well, and there’s too much influence from each person. The best mod teams tend to consist of 5-6 people.

In general, I would also prefer a discussion forum. Pictures and news articles have their place occasionally, especially if they’re conducive to discussion, but in general discussion based posts are (in my personal opinion) preferable for this type of community, and the previous sub was very much oriented around that.

As the community grows, megathreads might be of value - a big issue with the previous sub was that a lot of longtime users would just leave because new users would just keep posting the same questions over and over again, so there wasn’t a lot of retention, which is too bad - it’s nice to have a mix of new and more seasoned users.

Sure anyone who wants to mod is really welcome.

I can see, of course, that discussion threads are very important for a forum that is particularly characterised by exchange with other people and active interaction. But I see no fundamental contradiction to the additional posting of pictures and other material. However, as I have tried to make clear in the rules, posts may not simply be sent in without context, but the relevance must always be obvious, if necessary with an explanation. This ensures a discussion that can also refer to different material and hopefully benefit from it.

Megathreads are a great idea for the future. Currently the community is too small for it in my opinion. As far as the redundancy of questions is concerned, I haven’t thought too much about it. Maybe I should add this to the rules.

I’d be happy to mod. Do you have an application form? To give you a general idea, I’ve moderated subs before, but I don’t have any 1m+ mod experience.

Also, if anyone wants to mod other backpacking/minimalism related subs please hmu! I’d love to set some up but I can’t moderate multiple subs by myself, so h e l p.

I think in the beginning, as long as we arent that big its ok to not have something like an application form. Currently our goal is to populate tgis sub by starting posting meaningful info and spreading the word so that people can find us.

Hey, I made you a mod. But please remember that this place is relying on the decisions of the users. Please dont use your mod tag to post personal things and behold from any from any attempt to use your mod rights to pursue personal interests or opinions.
