Huh, I’ve beaten the game with Huntress more often than any other character, and for me she’s really strong even in the early game.

The bow means you can often kill enemies before they even get close to you. You just have to pick where you fight your battles very carefully at times.

She’s so weak with melee early on though. This is my best with her and I didn’t get a weapon I could use until just before Temu .

She is, but there are a few things you can do to avoid having to getting into melee:

        • sneak attack (use doorways, pillars, grass) as much as possible
        • snipe from behind tall grass (you can scope out enemy locations, hide behind grass and then shoot enemies with the bow even if you can’t see them, which makes every shot a sneak attack)
        • Use seeds for crowd control
        • Use thrown weapons/wands as much as possible

This usually keeps me going until I find a good tier 3 or 4 weapon in the prison.

I’ve never even made it to the bottom and I’ve played off and on for years.

Which enchantment did you use on the bow?

So far i was successfull with blooming enchantment with warden. It feelt sooo overpowered. It was the first time for me going beyond king and then easily making it to amulett and back to first floor afterwards.

I’m just a beginner (~50 trips to the dungeon), but I almost always play with the huntress. I can get to level 16 pretty consistently, but I’ve never managed to get past level 18.

I hit a similar wall. Huntress is great for my early game, but I still haven’t figured out how to build her so that she does well mid to late game.

I know it’s a me issue tho lol lots of people do really well with her

I intend to keep trying, since I think my strategies do improve over time. It’s difficult, though, when it takes a few hours of play to get to level 16 only to die a few minutes later.

Oh yeah, definetly always worth continuing to try. But i get how those late game deaths can be brutal. I’ve definetly taken some breaks from the game after having too many frustrating deaths lol.

I once burned through 2 blessed ankhs and my regular life pretty much instantly & just stopped playing for a while. But eventually the call of the dungeon always brings me back :P

It is surprisingly addictive. It’s so easy to just try one more time before doing what I actually need to do…

Early game is brutal with her.

I’m strongest with mage, and then maybe warrior.

I just had my first challenge win (3 challenges) with the huntress. For me the key was to keep the rotberry seed instead of returning it to the old wandmaker. I went warden and absolutely abused the heck out of the free ring of grass from the rotberry seed. I must’ve planted that seed well over a hundred times in the run!

You can plant it more than once? Is that only with her?

It’s specific to the rotberry plant. When you trample it you always get the seed back. Warden is just needed to make the plant actually beneficial. For other classes the rotberry plant just releases toxic gas rather than giving you strength and surrounding you with a ring of grass.

It’s a really fun play style. In my run I also found an elastic crossbow and I was using all the different darts with it. The crossbow does a lot more damage than the spirit bow if you upgrade it a lot. The darts open a ton of strategic possibilities too

Does the crossbow fire on its own or do you need darts? I’m really new to the huntress and have always opted for other weapons on my other builds

You need darts. You can buy 2 in each shop. They never break but the tips wear out so you need to retip them with seeds. Well you don’t need to retip them if you just want to fire the crossbow, but tipping them is so powerful and useful! Paralysis, blind, poison, holy, are all great!
