Tim Sheehy was cited for illegally discharging a weapon in a national park but says he made up the gunshot to cover up a bullet wound he received as a Navy SEAL in Afghanistan that he never reported to superiors
So he lied to his superiors to avoid an investigation into the poor performance of his colleagues because it would have made them all look bad. Then he lied to federal investigators in order to come up with a nice, legal excuse for his previous injury.

Or, it’s all lies, and he actually was an idiot who shot himself in the elbow. Most pistols don’t fire in response to being dropped (and you shouldn’t be carrying one around loaded anyways)

This should end well. On the surface it’s just ridiculous, but I’m sure there are some UCMJ violations here if anyone cares to look.
