Or we look at the existing studies that have researched the very question if pedophilia is subject to change or therapy. Which sadly, like homosexualtiy(and yes the similarities end right there), it is not.

We do not need to give people a pass for anything and personally i do not know of a single person that is accepting of pedophilia. But how about we start judging people by their actions, instead of policing their thoughts? Person is nonoffending? Why care about any label that they chose or were given. Person is raping kids? Lock them up. Is it any better if the rapist is not pedophile?

I didn’t say change or therapy. Also, the underlying causes I cited as probably aren’t things anyone with public funding can address.

I didn’t say a pass. I said a half pass. We go easy on them, we don’t try to fully understand them.

But how can we help treat them and give them the resources they need to function within society if we don’t try to understand it

Jack yourself off with the monkey paw!

That’s not just a derogatory response, that’s the liberal response and answer to your question-say youre doing the thing, do something that’s superficially similar, but actually think of the worst most awful thing you could do, and do that. Best case? Warm fuzzy carceral solution. Worst case? They’re all youth pastors now, and nobody reports sexual abuse from them ever again! Problem solved!
