I appreciate this distinction. I have retreated from all social media according to this definition. I run a Lemmy instance not as a social medium but as a personal medium aince I intentionally have the lemmy ‘branded’ as a personal blog.

I don’t need an anonymous online persona, I mean, what’s the benefit of having a stranger I will never meet like a photo? Of course I value privacy but I’m also realistic about how anonymous we aren’t in the social media sphere.

I’m here as an anonymous user on the solarpunk instance really just to add to the conversation and help lemmy grow. Once I get my traction on the personal instance and the fediverse is growing and healthy, I plan to let this user go fallow.
