It’s marketable, remarkable or not is secondary, point is faster than anything else :) Everyone knows that sub-something 0-to-something-else straight line acceleration spec for an ev is exactly what our planet needs right now! Jokes aside, all these “super” vehicles are either to make huge profits with margins a-la-Ferrari or to push the brand aka pure advertising. And honestly, this is one of the most entertaining advertising around!

I love how quickly we got used to mind-bogglingly quick acceleration figures. You just basically said “pff” to 1.9 seconds 0-100 km/h. That’s remarkable as fuck no matter what. It’s really difficult to accelerate that quickly because you only have so much contact with the ground. Engineering Explained on YouTube has talked about acceleration and braking and traction etc several times if you want to watch some interesting stuff on that topic.

The Model S Plaid, MG, Rimac Niverra, etc are increasingly limited by regulations more than anything. Quite literally, they are at the limits of rolling friction for street legal tires, which is why you’re not seeing a lot of variance at the top of the market.
