I’ve played a few games of 2e to try it out. It is a colorful, but awkward system. The kind of thing you’d have to play with a good natured friend. The rules are too vague and requiring mutual agreement to be any kind of tournament mindset competitive.

The small nature of the armies involved in a 2e force makes it appealing to me. I have a number of classic marines and some scratch made vehicles, which over time were supplemented by some plastic kits. I don’t have anything truly amazing like that old style Land Raider, which is simply an amazing design.

I already heard that 2e is better played with a friend, because of all the “jank”. But as I don’t have anyone to play it with it’s a moot point.

The smaller armies is sure also a big point in favour of 2e. But sadly I don’t have any classical marines (apart of some Space Wolves heroes that were still on sale during 4th like Ragnar and the Iron Priest). So I thought about using the MKVI mariens from Horus Heresy as a stand in and just kitbash the characters needed for the army.
But it’s all just in my head for now anyways. Maybe I’ll find some proper classical stuff until I can actually get around to do this.

Edit: Almost forgot about the Land Raider. Bit being a child of 4e I vastly prefer the current design to be honest.

          You don’t have to.
After a short stoll on ebay I found some old Guardians in dire need of a rescuing for cheap and some painted Dire Avengers with Exarch for a sane price. So I’ll probably break with my usual playing of Space Marines and do something else for once.
