It is a great podcast. I liked his answers but my perspective is different, that’s ok.
I listened to a great podcast on the subject last week which was super helpful, https://pjvogt.substack.com/p/what-does-it-feel-like-to-believe.
For me, I just do. It’s just who I am and what I feel. I don’t really talk about it outside of my church friends, but I just believe. I don’t think the Bible is terribly accurate and regard it much as I do Arabian Nights, a book of fantastic stories based loosely on events. I also think it has much to offer in teaching you how to treat others and live your life as a good person, and that’s what I take away from it. I find Jesus honestly a touch creepy, but I never stop believing in a higher power of sorts.
Also I honestly have made the best friends I’ve ever made in my church life. Horrible homophobic Christians aside, there’s some really excellent people who genuinely love you and do good things to meet there.
Starling! Our neighbors raised an abandoned fledgling and he decided the world was his best friend, and made him take us on car rides every day, as well as going for walks with the dog and sitting on my head. They’re very personable and have unique personalities.
I have two spots, my church has a co-working day where you can just sit in there, use the wifi, drink the coffee, and work on or read whatever you want. You don’t have to be religious and you’ll meet nice people, and it’s free. We have great conversations.
The other one for me is the local park which has a greenhouse with tables to just relax at, it has a waterfall which is nice to listen to. Just take advantage of the nice weather, take a lawn chair and go sit in the city park.
Cannabis is fun and has some medical benefits, like if you’re a cancer patient trying to stimulate your appetite, but it also genuinely does lower your IQ.
Most of northern Ontario, and really most of rural Canada could not live without a car. You’d be surprised how many towns don’t have Uber, and the only cab is two dudes who might come get you when they feel like it. I’ve known people who moved up there who have epilepsy because they say the cops don’t bother pulling anyone over so they can drive without a license.
Kind of sad yeah. She’s a great poet though.
Guys the Beaverton is the Canadian version of the Onion.
Conservatives are all such trash. The party of personal freedom sure is awfully interesting in pestering trans people to death.
It’s honestly the best thing I ever did for myself. Made me think about food and living in s whole new way. Thanks for the genuine support, it gets old being made fun of.
The point is animals are not to be manipulated for our benefit. Do you think a chicken crammed in a cage unable to ever spread its wings for its entire life is happy you’re eating her extra eggs?
And just so you know;
Chickens and bees are making eggs and honey for them, not for humans.
Probably. Maybe a softer tofu, I’m not a fan.
That part is extra funny.
It’s definitely some kind of throne.
It’s the side eye that kills me.
I’ve never online dated before. I’m too old for that shit. I can’t imagine how crazy it would be. Are there any older people on those apps?
It can kick off schizophrenia and depersonalization disorder. Here’s some really good research on it: https://www.psychiatrypodcast.com/psychiatry-psychotherapy-podcast/2019/5/1/marijuana-and-mental-health.
I don’t think occasional use is a big deal either, any more than a glass of wine, but it isn’t great for chronic use.
