Den Tieren ist deren Verwendung sehr wichtig. Das muss man respektiere.

I had this issue with sponsored websites. It took me a while to figure it out, but this resolved it for me:

When you just disable showing sponsors, Firefox will still autocomplete them.

• You have to let FF show those sponsors on the homescreen.
• Then remove them one by one from the homescreen.
• After all are removed, you can again disable the sponsors in the settings.

If this guide is too vague, I can be more explicit.

Of course posts older than a day are still useful. But how useful is an experience report on an OS that is over 2 years old? I have no idea about Void Linux, but whenever I seek a tutorial on something, I limit the search to 1 year, because stuff changes. Take the discussions on VPNs recently for example. For many people a lot changed due to policy changes from some VPNs. All threads regarding those VPNs that are older than 3 months should be viewed as archived.

One could argue that a post from programming humor is still as funny as it was 2 years ago. But I don’t want to see the same post over and over again, just because someone wrote a comment in it. And old posts aren’t gone and can be found if one wants to. But I don’t want posts to stay on my front page for years.

Häh? Das begreife ich nicht. Wieso will den die Löwin aus ihrer Gefangenschaft ausbrechen? Der Zoo hat sich sicher voll viel Mühe gemacht die Ausstellungszelle naturgetreu zu gestalten.

Well, there is a simple solution to stop contributing to unnecessary animal suffering. Becoming vegan will not prevent this from happening tomorrow. But at least you (if you are not yet vegan) are no longer responsible for it.

I (and many of my colleagues) do this since I switched to laptop 7 years ago. I use them during my whole time in university (CS using Linux).

They are very reliable. And (at least the old models that I use) can be fixed manualy when something is wrong (change SSD, RAM, thermal paste,…)

If money is no issue, I would go with a framework (I have no first hand experience with them). If money is to be considered, I would go with a refurbished ThinkPad.

Danke. Das ist ein interessanter Einblick. Bei mir steht bald eine Neuorientierung an und bis vor kurzem wäre ich recht blauäugig nach Berlin gezogen. Jetzt werde ich mich doch noch näher mit der Stadt auseinandersetzen.

Ich hatte immer den Eindruck, dass Berlin sehr lebenswert ist, und es sicher schön wäre, dort für ein paar Jahre zu leben.

Vor ein paar Monaten kamen aber nur noch Meldungen dass deren Stadtverwaltung am absaufen ist. Jetzt kommen Meldungen wie aktiv gegen Radwege vorgegangen wird.

Das macht diese Stadt wirklich unattraktiver. Denn wirklich gute Neuigkeiten über Berlin kamen bei mir nicht an.

They choose not to use a spam folder system, and I understand their reasoning, and agree with them.

They sometimes get criticized for some other decision (something to do with certificates, if I remember correctly), but after reading their reasoning, I agree with them.

In my experience, they have now real downside, and I recommend them to everyone I know when they come to me with email problems.

That is what I do for most German movies. It only takes half a minute so get the audio-video delay right at the beginning.

And maybe 1/30 movies will not work, because the sources have different pacing.

I am in love with the style of Edgar Wright. To me, he is the best director. Not only because I enjoy his work, but also because in my eyes, he is one of few directors who understand the medium movies, and use that knowledge with every frame.

He is one big reason, why I began to look at movies as an Art form.

I use Simple Audiobook Player by mdmt. I like it, because it browses the directory-structure and is pretty minimalistic.

It has two pretty bad shortcomings

• it is not FOSS (one of maybe 3 non-FOSS Apps I use)
• playback speed control is a pro feature.
• can not play .wav

It has a pro version, but never brings it up (no nagging).

Gestern habe ich jemand in 20 Metern Entfernung angekling, weil er (mich sehend) lieber auf den Fahrradstreifen lief, als auf den freien Bürgersteig.

Seine Reaktion darauf war zur Seite zu gehen, um dann zu versuchen mich von Rad zu schupsen.

Ich könnte mich noch auf dem Rad halten. Aber der Schock war echt ätzend.

So ein Typ im Auto würde mir auch sorgen machen.

Wo liest du, dass sich die Person vegan leben möchte? Es wurde klargemacht, dass Wouzilla kein Interesse daran hat, vegan zu leben (“Mir ist das Label letztlich egal.”)

Und die Frage nach Ausnahmen, ist auch keine Frage nach Hilfe, sondern ein Versuch, sich mit den Ausnahmen, die man macht, nicht so scheiße zu fühlen. Ganz nach dem Motto: “Ein paar Ausnahmen sind okay, machen die anderen ja auch”.

Helfen soll man in diesem Forum nicht Veganern selbst. Aber nicht veganes Verhalten zu billigen wäre ein Verrat an der Sache.
