  • Steam delisting games due to them being sold at lower prices elsewhere isn’t something that’s entirely unprecedented, but it’s the first time I’ve seen it done on the retail side. A lot of wholesale distributors and manufacturers don’t like it if you try to sell their products below a certain percentage of MSRP, since it results in one seller taking business away from the distributors’/manufacturers’ other retail clients and drives everyone’s overall income down. But when used that way it encourages competition, rather than discouraging it.

  • All of them, really. I don’t really go through the queue that much but I’ve never been bothered by what shows up in the “Featured”, “Recommended based on the games you play” or “more like this” sections. It does tend to be more of the just popular or big-name stuff but it generally does a good job of at least picking things related to what’s already in my library.

  • It’s a great feature to have, and honestly I actually haven’t had to use it much either. I’ve found that Steam does a good job curating things properly based on my library, and the way Steam advertises its listings is mostly unintrusive.

Honestly, I think Steam’s “suggestions” system is the only form of advertisement that’s actually gotten me to buy something. I wouldn’t have known about RPG Maker VX Ace without out otherwise.

  • “Aliens aren’t furry”

Are you seriously going to say that when Chewbacca is one of the most well known sci-fi aliens and is a literally walking carpet of floof? And in a similar Star Warsy vein, what about all the Bothans that died to get the Death Star plans before Disney decided to retcon that and say that there was a defector on the engineering team instead?

Anyway, what about servals? As in the adorable spotty leggy jumpy cats that have kinda gone viral in the cat memes scene recently?

  • I’ve got three current fursonas with different stories as to how I picked their species.

Tofu (Zenko Kitsune): I actually had a lot of trouble narrowing this one down, and the final decision literally came down to being on a discord server about foxes and what I could do with DazStudio. The character that became Tofu could have been a Kobold, a Land Form Shaymin, a Sphinx (as in the Greek/Egyptian mythical creature, not a Bingus) or even a “scrap yard special” protogen with cybernetics made from recycled and/or repurposed parts, but eventually I decided on a Zenko Kitsune with five tails, who’s tails represent her age in centuries.

Sloan (Serval): If you can’t tell, Sloan’s my main. Tofu is very much not like me at all but rather more of a way to self-explore, so I decided I wanted to make a fursona that could act as my mascot. I thought about what traits are typically associated with various fursona species and settled on “lesser” wildcat, and then went with a serval because I’m tall and so are servals.

Amara (Land Form Shaymin): I liked the Land Form Shaymin concept I had when trying to decide on Tofu’s species, so I decided to use it as a separate character/'sona.

  • You can keep skunks as pets in a lot of places, but they have to be de-skunked (as in have the scent glands removed). They’re not the worst exotic pet out there (heck, I can think of a few non-exotics that can be more problematic) but they can get themselves into trouble pretty easily and it can be difficult to provide for their dietary needs. They’re also stubborn and have high enrichment requirements, and they don’t like being kept in a cage or other enclosed space even part time so you basically have to make your entire house skunk-proof. My opinion on exotic pets isn’t a hard yes or no, but rather “if you can provide the necessary care”. Skunks are one of the ones where it’s not that big of an if, but due to the dietary concerns they’re definitely not a pet for everyone. I’d put them on the same tier as some of the bigger parrots, large constrictors, large predatory freshwater fish (Arrowana) and fennecs in terms of care requirements.

As for what I like about them, I love their huge, fluffy tails. I just wish the fandom didn’t always associate them with musk and fart fetishes, you almost never see a skunk 'sona that isn’t uncontrollably stinking up the place. IRL skunks don’t do that, they only spray if their defensive display dance doesn’t do the trick. And yet I have yet to see a breakdancing skunk fursona. To each their own, I just wish people would think of skunks as more than just a living chemical weapon.
