I found out on a recent wikipedia trawl that my view on this is effectively ‘panpsychism’. I don’t think that rocks or the wind have complex thoughts, but I do believe that all matter has some sort of fundamental experience to it, and that this synchronises to make stuff like brains.
I do think plants and some microbes have more complex feelings though :)
Where I live, they rarely come down from the rooftops. Do you have any advice on how to attract them?
How about jackdaws, do they behave similarly?

Imagine what people could do with this if it were distilled into a working form: people in places where abortions and hormone therapies are punished could surpass the law, people disconnected from supply chains could acquire treatment for all sorts of disease. It makes me really hopeful about the future!
Anybody know any pharmacologists/engineers? I think these people need more folks onboard!

I’m pretty sure it’s not a bioreactor, since it’s used for organic synthesis. I reckon the purification steps would be a lot even so!
For places besides the USA, which don’t have access to large scale synthesis, I’d imagine it’s more useful. Plus, not everyone can rely on their politicians…
just from looking, I think it’s a lab reactor rather than a bioreactor, so does automated organic synthesis rather than using bacteria. I’d love to try that out with willow bark though, have you done it before?

While I was looking for an instance I saw one that said it was run on 99% renewables! So unless they’re lying I’d imagine it’s possible.
Does anyone know any resources for other parts of the world? I’d love to proliferate some natives but I’m worried American plants may be invasive.
It’s wild to me that most multicellular organisms are symbiotic with other kingdoms of life. Like, not only do mammals have gut microbiomes, we also have cerebrospinal fluid microbiomes! And how roots need fungi to break down the soil for them.
