Danke dir für deinen Rat, du hast natürlich absolut Recht, dass auch rezeptfrei erhältliche Schmerzmittel echt nicht zu unterschätzen sind. An dem einen Tag, als die Schmerzen am schlimmsten waren, war ich wirklich schon ziemlich nah an der absoluten Höchstdosis. Zum Glück war es die letzten Tage auch ohne Schmerzmittel auszuhalten :)

Ich hab die Beurer WL9. Ist halt quasi eine Tischlampe, aber dafür relativ groß. Ich mag daran, dass ich die mir beim Frühstücken knapp vor mein Gesicht stellen kann und dann innerhalb von 10-15 Minuten die Tageslichttherapie erledigen kann, weil sie so hell ballert 😅 Evtl würde ich mir jetzt trotzdem lieber ein etwas kleineres Modell kaufen und auf meinem Schreibtisch platzieren - die müsste dann halt länger an sein. Vor über 10 Jahren hatte ich auch mal Tageslicht-Glühbirnen als Deckenbeleuchtung, fand die aber abends manchmal ungemütlich hell.

Mein Wochenende war sehr unaufregend. Hatte letzte Woche mit schlimmen Zahnschmerzen ungeklärter Ursache zu kämpfen (war bei zwei Zahnärzten, die beide meinten, Röntgen und auch klinische Untersuchung waren komplett unauffällig - aber meine Backe war echt dick). Vor allem an einem Tag hatte ich wirklich unerträgliche Nervenschmerzen und gleichzeitig hatte ich von den vielen Schmerzmitteln, die eh kaum noch halfen, ziemliche Kreislaufprobleme. Die akuten Schmerzen sind zum Glück weg, aber ich war das ganze Wochenende lang noch ziemlich erledigt. Aber immerhin hab ich die Wohnung ein wenig geputzt :)

Abseits von Arbeit steht bei mir diese Woche an, einen guten Kieferorthopäden zu suchen. Und ein bisschen mehr Sozialleben hoffentlich :)

Ich bin auch absolute Befürworterin von Tageslichtlampen! Hab meine heute Morgen zum ersten Mal in der Saison wieder verwendet :)

I only wear sports leggings occasionally for exercise, so I can’t really represent the view of women wearing leggings as pants in everyday life, but I guess the main reason is that they’re very comfortable (unless they’re shapewear). I would compare their comfort level to sweatpants.

I am happy that you could save your cat as well! While the success rate is not 100%, it seems to be somewhere around 80% under the less-than-optimal conditions with black market and some vets opposing the treatment (I used to do the statistics for one German group that has assisted the treatment of around 3000 cats since 2020, so if anyone’s interested, I’m happy to share data!).

In my opinion, those odds mean that it’s always definitely worth a shot! I personally would have even tried it for my own cats if the odds were 50/50 or lower. He was diagnosed just before his second birthday and I’m so glad that he’s fully recovered and has led a completely normal life since.

I have also treated two cats for FIP with GS-441524: my own cat, who was diagnosed with dry FIP in September 2020 and who is now an almost 5 year old healthy cat and a stray cat that was diagnosed with neurological FIP in August 2021 and has also been healthy and happy for a long time :)

It’s a shame that the treatment is still not approved due to the patent issues, but at least in the German-speaking world, an increasing number of vets have learned about the treatment and have a positive attitude about it. While they can’t officially prescribe or administer the drug, mentioning the drug shouldn’t be an issue because they could even refer to the ongoing studies at LMU Munich.

Technically, it’s not a Covid strain, but another strain of the coronavirus that is not transmissible to humans. As far as current medical knowledge goes, FIP is caused by a mutation of the feline coronavirus and is deadly if untreated. Besides cats, big cats (like lions) and also ferrets can actually also get FIP. Dogs, humans etc can’t develop FIP. I actually know of one ferret in Germany that was successfully treated against FIP with GS-441524! :)

Dazu fand ich tatsächlich den Artikel im Standard auch recht aufschlussreich. Aus dem geht noch etwas deutlicher hervor, dass nach dem Absturz von Hassan einfach neben ihm ein zweites Seil für den Aufstieg montiert wurde (und er kopfüber hängengelassen wurde). Jemand hat ihn schlussendlich nach einiger Zeit hochgezogen. Aber anscheinend hat eine große Anzahl an Bergsteiger:innen plus Sherpas und Trägern entschieden, weiter zum Gipfel aufzusteigen statt den Versuch abzubrechen und dafür ein Menschenleben zu retten. (Das wird ja eigentlich in der Erzählung von Harila auch bestätigt, in der sie schildert, dass sie ihn abstürzen sah und als sie vom Gipfel abstiegen, sahen sie, dass er in der Zwischenzeit gestorben war).
