I used to own an amfibia. My thoughts are inline with most reviewers:
- Bang for buck
- piece of history
- acrylic dome scratches as well as it polishes
- finitions are meh, but you know that before buying
- best week end driver / beatwatch I had
Water and toothbrush. Never ever use soap, which just gets in the seals.
First I wouldn’t. Watches might not be fashionable in 20-30 years.
Second: Something truly timeless. Not any of the current trends, something neutral in size and design.
Also something not too sporty or dressy.
Personnal choice : I’d stay away from “Swiss” swatch group which are really overpriced.
Top choices:
- Junghans Max Bill series.
- Seiko prospex (at least you are sure the watch will run for a long tome)
Other
- Damasko DC70
- Muhle teutonia or panova
Maybe a high end Chinese watch as the period of their birth is China’s time.
3·8 months agoBought a frankenwatch advertised as original. Seller refused to pay back, c24 refused to get involved.
Had to raise some shit which got me most of my money back and the authorized dealer banned.
I wouldn’t dig too much into the ban.
Just saw one in a shop.
Seiko prospex have decent bracelets and can be found under 500€

18·1 year agoPolitics aside (I’m strongly against federating with corps for reasons already expressed here), can the instance even support federation with a multimillion user federation? Just look at the fedilags recently.

Context: alliance is the far right union of a police force that already votes more 60% for a party created by a former SS.
Let’s say I’ve seen psychedelic rock bands with more stage presence.
That’s a band is never saw a video of even though I own several records of them.
I might go back to listening without images.
