National news when this happens to hikers, only summed up as a statistic when it happens (far more often) to a homeless person.

Well it’s quite a different thing, now isn’t it?

These people did it to themselves by not figuring out what’s required to do what they intend to do.

What happened here was completely preventable by the people it happened to. It’s also in the fucking news and posted anywhere you go to make sure you know what you’re doing.

Homelessness is a completely different thing, nothing at all like what happened here.

Unless you’re saying homeless people are homeless by their own doing, like these people are dead by their own doing?

        Hikers presumably have homes.

The homeless often have to hike everywhere, very frequently, but we don’t refer to them as hikers because for them it is just what they have to do, where as for ‘Hikers’ it is a voluntary recreational activity.

Is it a tragedy when recreational hikers die? Of course, they overestimated their physical or gear level of readiness or encountered some unexpected event and perished, and they will be missed.

But there are far, far more homeless people who have no choice but to be ‘hikers’ damn near everyday, often in urban environments where they are surrounded by people who all could help, but won’t… and far more of them die, and no one reports on that. Because the presumption is they will not be missed.

My point is more along the lines of what the media chooses to portray and how.

Homeless people are not considered ‘people’, they are considered filth. People and the media very often show much more attention, care, and monetary support for pets, wild animals, and victims of poverty or wars abroad than they do the homeless in their own town or country.

You really sound like an asshole. In the future I suggest you wait 20 minutes and reread what your going to post and then read the post your replying to. Then, if you still think you’re the smartest person in the world, delete your comment and go do some community service.

It takes a special kind of person to decide that hiking in the desert is the the thing to do on a day it’s gonna be over 100F. Whether you have plenty of water or not.
