As a casual comment in a different thread, with no more explanation or summary than the title, it was well received with more upvotes than both of these posts combined, and none of these criticisms. None of those folk needed a TLDR or anything else.
Imagine my surprise when the posts bombed by comparison, and in communities I thought would like it.
¯\(ツ)/¯ whaddaya gonna do?
Also, whoa whoa whoa, we now have to explain why we think a post should be read? Not ‘No’, but ‘Hell no’. You decide. If a summary and reason-to-read are required, I’ll just stop posting.
“Long texts”??
To quote Leon, “Man, nobody fսcking reads anymore.”No need to get so agitated. It was not criticism, it was merely a suggestion.
Never did I say you are required to add any additional comments, but I suggested it as something that would be helpful for others to decide whether or not they should spend time reading it.
Never did I say that you have to explain why it should be read, simply that it would be helpful (and interesting) to hear your thoughts on why it is a good read.
It is a long text - you spend a non-negligble part of your free time reading it through. I read quite a lot, and I have quite a lot of unread texts I also want to read. I enjoy Lemmy because I get exposed to many texts I wouldn’t otherwise find, and I am open to having new texts skip the queue if they seem interesting. But I do not have unlimited time to read everything that is posted. It would have helped me to decide whether to read it if there was some more information about the piece. Hemce the suggestion.
Yeah. It starts with “I’m just so angry.” and 3 paragraphs in, I still don’t know what about and why I should care. If you have a point, make it first, then demonstrate. There is no shortage of stupid points made by angry people, if I have to read through 5 pages each time to know if it is about something that makes sense or if it is about the price of eggs in the hollow earth is not workable.
Fuck substack!
