I recall my grandfather mentioning how when he was building his barn the boards on one of the walls were thick enough that they worked as shelves and he’d often just put hammers on the arm level shelf so while few the number of people who have accidentally built shelves it’s not zero sadly the barn got blown down and the rebuilt barn didn’t keep the accidental shelfs
