Rishi Sunak has proposed raising the smoking age every year in a move welcomed by health charities but criticised by those in the tobacco industry.

    It is 18.

    But this law will be designed to target current 14 year olds. In theory they will never legally be allowed to smoke.

    If you’re smoking now, this will not affect you.
