Usually I post to slrpnk.net and they are currently on 0.18.5. None of my posts/comments (2 posts, 1 comment) are federating.

Just letting you know if anyone here is posting to non-updated instances, it’s possible they aren’t going through. Yet completely possible they are. Who knows with this federation business.

I’m going to go to the Winchester Engadine Maccas, grab a schooner shit my pants and wait for this to all blow over.

Prior to restarting the lemmy service, this showed over 2k instances as “lagging”. Shortly after restart, its dropped down to single digits.

I’ll leave the hourly restart going for now, it should help with federation issues… and should help with memory leaks too.

I joined their XMPP server last night and let poVoq know. They assumed it was version disparity but can’t update till later in holidays.

I checked comments and some other versions/instances were still posting in so it could be our end too.

Can’t really troubleshoot until the version is updated.

      Cheers for having a look.

Edit: Saw Five’s reply to your slrpnk account. Seems like a stalemate for now.

Edit 2: I can see your aussie.zone post to slrpnk meta, but if I go through webpage, it’s invisible.

Just had a look at a few communities here from kbin.social and recent posts aren’t flowing over to kbin either.

Cheers. It’s out of my paygrade.

Probably best to not bother posting or commenting to other instances for a while in case you’re wasting your time.

Or maybe one wouldn’t even notice since engagement can sometimes be low. Like yelling into the void or talking to yourself on the toilet.

When we did our US trip, one thing that really stood out was dunny etiquette.

Dudes will happily carry on a phone conversation as they walk in to the toilet, take a dump, wipe and flush, optionally wash their hands (seriously it is gross how many people use there dunny without washing their hands afterwards), then leave without interrupting their conversation at all.

I don’t know how good noise cancelling is on phones now but I find it hard to believe none of the splashes and kerplunks didn’t make it to the other side of the conversation.

You just gotta ease it into the water. Isn’t their water so high that if the high fibre diet is followed, you can slip it into the water like a crocodile?

They weren’t easing anything, I’ve seen bodies thrown off bridges in crime shows that hit the water with less fanfare.

Also, the water being so high means if you use them to tinkle you get splashback. Ours have sufficient depth available to keep the splash inside the bowl, but on their is just jumps out everywhere like liquid popcorn.

Might not be a problem for those who are shooting low enough that the widdle doesn’t reach terminal velocity, but for those of use with long legs and short hoses it’s a recipe for splotches on and around your shoes.

Oooh that’s why Lemmy has been so quiet this week. I chalked it up to everyone being busy with Christmas stuff.
