It is bewildering how much these people hate, absolutely hate electric cars. They aren’t required to spend money on them. And they can still get the gas hogs they want.
I hear pure vitriol from them on the subject, followed by regurgitated talking points that don’t hold up. Electric batteries don’t magically die at the five year mark. They can be and are recycled. Replacing a battery may be expensive, but that cost is easily comparable to all the maintenance an ICE car requires. But they’d rather be mad.
