What is your actual, useful, opinion then?

Biden is made to step down, and the Dems are split. Sure, the politically-minded on the left will back a new candidate, but the majority who do not follow politics like obsessed weirdos on the internet will see a Democratic Party that is in-fighting and indecisive.

It’s happening already. And replacing Biden, the incumbent President, with a relative unknown is just going to see more chaos. The type of chaos that Trump took the presidency from 8 years ago.

We saw it in 2016, and it makes me actually sick to my stomach that It’s happening again in 2024. The world is fucked, and changing the dottery old idiot at the head of the only party that has a chance of standing against literal fascists THIS close to the finish line is such a stupid fucking hill to die on if you aren’t being paid by the Russians.

I mean aoc would be a pretty well known and liked pick imo.

She’s not old enough according to the Constitution. Candidates running for presidency must be at least 35. She’s 34.

She’s liked by progressives and some of the center, she would have a very hard time stacking up against other potential candidates in a scenario where Biden actually stepped aside or a conference coup happened.

Her best bet would be to hitch herself to one of the more progressive names being tossed around like Whitmer and parry executive staff experience into a run later in her career. What sort of cabinet position she’d actually consider vying for I haven’t the faintest clue except maybe energy secretary since the GND was so thoroughly pinned to her and her and the Squad.

      Whats that fallacy?

When you are committed to a losing strategy because you feel like you need to recover what you’ve already lost?

To everything you just said: No.

Biden is splitting the Democratic party currently. Not some other time; right now. If you want to unite the Democrats, we need another candidate. Bro is polling in the mid-low 30’s. Dentistry polls higher.

My opinion is Biden should at least open up the convention and allow others to campaign and get there name out there so we can get some polls showing whether he is the best candidate. As it stands right now the margin that could determine a win dont know enough about alternatives so the polls aren’t showing if they will actually be better.

Something’s gotta change though Biden is losing and trending down and even if the polls are wrong and he’s even, we can’t win by squeaking by less then a percent. There’s the electoral college and he had to win by 4.5% nationwide last time to get a narrow victory with Arizona, Michigan and Pennsylvania, states where he’s behind 2-5% right now. Both candidates are pretty known quantities at this point and barring trump going to jail I don’t see bidens fortunes shifting . So he’s either gotta step down and let someone else take a shot or take enough Adderall to kill an AP class and go on a national speaking and press tour. If they send him back into his basement and he doesn’t talk the Democrats will sleep walk to a trump victory.

You’re underestimating just how much contempt there is for Biden. He’s losing to a Trump even more now after the debate, absolutely hemorraging support. He simply cannot win. He’s alienated the anti-genocide part of the party, calculating that he could afford to give them the finger if he tried to suck up to independents and non-existent disillusioned maga chuds. And now independents are abandoning him.

There’s no evidence that the party would be split on a different candidate, the only argument I’ve heard for Biden up to this point is “Vote blue no matter who. He’s not Trump.”, which can be applied to literally anyone. Even Harris has a better chance against Trump at this point, the numbers show that.

The anti-genocide people do not want Trump, but Biden literally made it impossible for them to vote for him, they will vote for basically anyone else if given the chance. Harris even has the benefit of having distanced herself from Biden’s insane support of Israel, and she’s a woman and not a catholic so she’s going to be stronger with women on abortion, she’s also the reason Biden has any of the black vote.

Biden is a sinking ship, the life raft is not great but it will work better than just staying onboard and going down with him.

I was thinking about it, and I feel like the only demographic that wants Biden to stay in are Israeli trolls.

They’re the only group that benefits by either Biden or Trump win, I think that’s why there’s such a weirdly forceful push to shut down discussion of Biden leaving, it would mean a chance that a non-Zionist might win. But if it’s Biden v Trump Israel gets a faithful genocide supporter either way.

It’s really incredible how they can’t see that they are behaving exactly like trump supporters do - refusing to hear any criticism of their leader, however legitimate, and framing it as “fake news” and those who point it out as traitors and enemies, being willing to ignore any and all bad policy, political or personal record to “own” the other guy (and no, voting for Biden isn’t stopping fascism), being blindly loyal to someone who clearly has no loyalty to them or interest in their wellbeing.

It’s literally the same cult-like behaviour, and the only people it serves are the cult leaders (and those behind the curtain funding them to make sure their system continues to chug along uninterrupted).

If only they were able to be as loyal to their own interests as they are to team red or blue, the working class might actually have a chance at breaking free from this circus that exists solely to placate and distract us from what the owning class are getting away with.

Its just really important to identify it and call it out when you see it. Even with the way they downvote brigade, its important to put them on display.

I agree, though that works mostly for those not yet sucked in to the cult, and just like with the trump cultists - if they aren’t ready and willing to hear it, it’s fingers in ears, LALALALALALALA as loud as they can, and onwards with ignoring reality…

“Facist Tankie” was also en vogue for a while. Seems to have fallen out of favour recently though.
