I really wish that they’d just started building from LA to Bakersfield and San Jose to Merced, and then opened those before building the track in the middle.
It seems obvious to me that seeing the project run and discovering how useful it is will radically change people’s impressions and its political capital. If it were useful quickly and then got more useful as the project went on, there’d be so much more support for it. Doing it this way seems so bone-headed if you wanted people to support the project that I have to wonder if it was intentional.
