Despite the Israeli military’s claims on November 5, 2023, of “Hamas’s cynical use of hospitals,” no evidence put forward would justify depriving hospitals and ambulances of their protected status under international humanitarian law.

No evidence would? That does not fit with my information.

    According to this other article:

International humanitarian law lends hospitals special protections during war. But hospitals can lose their protections if combatants use them to hide fighters or store weapons, the International Committee of the Red Cross said.

If there’s a valid military target there, the IDF can prove it, measures are taken to minimize harm to civilians, and the response isn’t considered disproportionate, it appears that it is quite legal under international law to attack belligerents hiding in hospitals and it loses its protected status. However, it seems there’s disagreement whether Israel has met these standards.
