#Amazon would theoretically be the best candidate for shoplifting. Obviously anti-capitalists would have a bone to pick with Amazon. But even those who don’t outright condemn capitalism, Amazon is still probably the most unethical retailer in the world nonetheless.

Amazon has reportedly designed its brick and mortar shops so that the normal way of shopping is just to grab your stuff and walk out, and let facial recognition sort out the billing. Does that mean shoplifters can cover their face and get away with it? Surely Amazon must have thought that through. Has anyone looked into that?

I’d forgotten they had storefronts and thought you meant the distribution centers. 'One last heist, then we retire ’

They also own Whole Foods. Perhaps an ethical shoplift would be to take animal products from there.

I think this might work, but repression / police investigation usually more intensive because blatantly breaking laws(hit and run a self amazon self service store while on camera) is deemed more dangerous than doing it in secret (standard shoplifting where it just gets filed under “shrink”)

Also when doing this style of theft in other stores, people are usually able to get stuff that’s worth more when looking strictly at the monetary value. Stealing 3 luxury bags can get you rent for a couple weeks/months, stealing groceries just gives you groceries
