And someone just set himself on fire outside the courthouse!

Tomorrow’s headlines: “Russian hackers have posted the full names, addresses and social security numbers of all 12 jurors and 6 alternates on X. Elon Musk replied, “interesting.””

“At some point, you need to accept the court’s rulings,” Merchan said. “There’s nothing else to clarify. There’s nothing else to reargue. We’re going to have opening statements on Monday morning. This trial is starting.”

I want to send this man a gift basket.

Do these articles mean anything anymore? I’ve seen the media hype up Trump legal issues for the last 6 years saying, “Trump is in big trouble this time”. Each case it feels like nothing happens.

This is true. He might never see justice, but this trial is as far as it ever got. 6 years ago we had Mueller investigation, where he refused to inspect him. Now he got 2 impeachments (sadly without removal), 4 indictments 2 federal, 2 state charges, 91 felonies and the first criminal trial that is happening right now.

Though keep in mind that if he is found innocent then this is it for that indictments. If he is found guilty, you can bet your ass he will appeal and this won’t be over.

So I’m listening to MSNBC and they said they got a glimpse of the papers that the gentleman tossed in the air before lightly roasting himself.

    “Vast conspiracy theories” they said.

Capitalism’s demand for endless growth is unsustainable, OK, but I don’t see the link to setting yourself on fire. The government is complicit, yeah, we know, this isn’t new information. The Simpsons is a secret brainwashing plot? Incoherent rambling about climate change, COVID, random media, canned water, and somehow Trump is both part of the scam and the only one who can defeat it? I know I shouldn’t be expecting much in the way of, you know, rational thought, but I can’t even tell what his delusion consists of. It’s a ramble of self contradictory nonsense.

“Abolish our criminal government” by supporting a known member of the establishment with a history of fraud and infidelity. I don’t know what can go wrong.

But then again it’s a two party system there. So they really don’t have a way out and it might seem like the only one.

I read his reddit account before they deleted it, honestly didn’t seem qanon more left wing anti tech doomer. Obviously struggling with mental illness, seemed like a lot of the gang stalking types.

I suspect seeing the adulation people heaped on the last mentally ill person to kill themselves like this he was inspired.

You should read the reports of the reasons why they discharged some of the potential jurors. They dug deep into social media of everyone. Multiple potential jurors broke down crying.

I’d cry if I had to hear about what a gremlin I am online.

I’d get dismissed immediately since I don’t need a trial to figure out if a lifelong fraud and con man did some frauds and cons. It would be fortunate that I can skip some public humiliation but unfortunate for the course of justice they might pick an idiot instead.

Someone has self-immolated in the protest area outside the courthouse. No clear motive. The fire was put out and they were taken away on a stretcher, no word on condition.

I read his manifesto and substack. He had his own brand of crazy, mixing Russian misinformation and personal delusions half-and-half.

His gist is “climate change and resource scarcity will destroy society, the elites know it and created cryptocurrency to collapse global finance, which will fix things while making them untouchable rulers.”

I mean… Technically speaking the guy didn’t really hurt anyone else… I don’t know that I’d call him a terrorist over this. Stupid? Maybe. Misguided? Most definitely. But if the only person he hurt is himself I don’t think that’s grounds to be called terrorism. Frankly I think a person should have the right to set themselves on fire if they want to. Same way they have the right, technically, to eat a bullet in the garage or take a long fall with a short rope. Nobody wants to see it happen, and it is “illegal” in such a fashion that emergency services can come legally enter your home without permission to prevent a suicide in progress, but the right to self harm should be covered under bodily autonomy. I’m not going to idolize this guy but I don’t think his name should be stricken from history as though this was some heinous act of terrorism. He aimed to sacrifice his own life and no one else’s to bring visibility to his protest. I may not agree with it but I think you should be allowed that.

My guess is that this trial is going to steamroll him. He will begin to look old and withered fast. Think about Harvey Weinstein and how quickly he started to degrade once his ruse was exposed and he was put on trial. This will not be kind to him and he is going to completely buckle. That’s my conjecture.

The best way to get rid of him would honestly be to make him look pathetic and weak. Let him stand in the election and then have him lose simply because of how ridiculous he now looks and let his supporters just fade away from him.

The trouble is I think most Trump supporters would vote for him even if he was a corpse.

The diehards will vote for him no matter what and those people are basically lost. Everybody else will witness a very significant degradation of Trump. When he is finally convicted I think the whole thing will unravel. I realize this is optimistic in some eyes, but this is my current feeling.
